Historian Nico Sinuello will accompany us on a journey of discovery through the foothills of Mount Hum, an important stronghold of the Italian army during the First World War.
He will recount the events of the First World War that took place on Mount Hum. You will be taken on a journey of discovery along military roads and mule tracks, trenches, tunnels, and artillery positions created by Italian soldiers and civilian workers employed by the army.
In an unspoiled landscape typical of the Julian Pre-Alps, we will delve into a fascinating and little-known history, walking along the paths and revisiting the positions of the soldiers who lived there for more than three years.
Monte Hum is home to a nature observatory and is a privileged place to enjoy extraordinary views of the Natisone Valleys, Matajur, and the Kolovrat mountain range.
This will be followed by lunch featuring typical dishes from the Natisone Valleys at the Burnjak festival, with the following menu:
- Orzotto with vegetables, lovage, and Frant cheese from the Cividale Dairy
- Sausage from the Snidaro farm and cappucci with apples
- Chestnuts from the Natisone Valleys
- 1 glass of wine, 1/2 liter of water
