A symbol of the transition from winter to spring, the Natisone Valleys carnival is at its peak during the Pust event, a carnival parade that still keeps the local traditional masks alive, parading in San Pietro al Natisone/Špeter together with masks from various parts of the region, Slovenia and beyond.
The Pust of San Pietro al Natisone/Špeter is one of the most popular events in the Natisone Valleys. It is held in San Pietro al Natisone/Špeter, where groups of local masks and those from neighbouring valleys and towns as well as from beyond the border parade through the town, often interacting with the public that crowds the town lining the parade route.
Program Pust 2026:
Saturday, February 7
- At 6.30 PM Opening of the celebrations.
- Starting at 9.00 PM Awards for Best Costume and Best Group.
- Then... dance night with Rujni muzikanti and with DJ Andy.
Sunday, February 8
- At 11.00 AM Gathering of masked groups.
- At 2.00 PM Parade begins.
- Then... dancing with the group Skedinj.
