Workshop with Elena Tuan, coach in Organic Transformation.
Rest is not about escaping what must be done: it is about safeguarding what matters, making space for the future, and embracing—rather than resisting—the cyclical movements of life. Those who came before us knew this well: rest requires no permission, no concessions, and no merit. It is not absence, but a deeper form of presence.
"Počivalo", in the local Slovenian dialect, refers to a place dedicated to rest. Not a pause between two elsewhere locations, but a place of its own existence. There are many of them along the trails of the Natisone Valleys.
The resting place that will host this workshop lies at the foot of the monumental chestnut tree in Pegliano/Ofijan, one of the oldest trees in Italy. It is over 300 years old, reaches 24 meters in height, and about 9 meters in diameter at its widest point. For generations, its canopy has offered shelter to those crossing these paths carrying bundles of hay, acting precisely as a “počivalo.”
The walk to the tree is easy, about 3 km round trip, with no significant elevation gain. We will walk it together during the workshop to reach the chestnut tree and, in its company, remember what we have forgotten about rest.
And what is rest without a little care? A fruit snack will be kindly offered during the workshop by the Valnatisone farm.
Participation is free, but places are limited.
