In September and October, the site is open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Nature, history, art, faith, myth: a five-dimensional cave church
From Tarcetta/Tarčet, a scenic woodland trail leads in about ten minutes to the staircase of the Antro Cave-Church, a hidden gem of the Natisone Valleys.
The 86 steps lead into a place where nature, history, art, faith, and mythology come together in layers: from prehistoric and Roman activity to the presence of Byzantine monks, and from the Lombard loggia to the Baroque altar and the Late Gothic rock-cut church.
The tourist nature trail winds for approximately 300 meters through this underground world, part of a labyrinth more than three miles long, carved by water deep within Mount Mladesiena.
Guided tours:
- Tour times: The first guided tour starts when we open at 10:00 a.m., and the last one begins at 5:00 p.m.!
- Language: Guided tours are only available in Italian. However, foreign guests can access audio guides for smartphones (English, German, Slovenian) during the tour.

- Full ticket full visit Church and Cave (tourist-naturalistic route): 10 €
- Reduced ticket or visit only Church: 8 € (reduced: 6 to 12 years old, 65 and over, disabled and handicapped with card. School groups and summer schools. Special conventions.)
- Free ticket for accompanying persons (max 1:10).
