The 'Šmarna Miša' (Mass in honour of the Assumption of Mary) is the most important religious event of the year in Val Resia.

In honour of the Assumption of Mary, a Holy Mass is celebrated every 15 August in Prato di Resia, during which the 16th century wooden sculpture of the 'Madonna and Child' is carried in procession. Every year, the Pro Loco Val Resia takes the opportunity to surround this festivity with an extensive programme of festivities, with stalls, markets, organised hikes, Resian dances and music, tastings of typical products and children's activities, which normally extends over several consecutive days.
