On Sunday, April 6, the pilot event aimed at creating, developing and managing a Cross-border Cycling Region in the territories of Benečija (in Italy) and the Soča Valley (in Slovenia) was held in Merso di Sopra/Gorenja Mersa in the municipality of San Leonardo/Sveti Lenart.
The project consists of a bicycle network that will enable bike and MTB enthusiasts to ride trails immersed in nature, surrounded by the silence and pure air of meadows, vineyards, forests and mountains, riding through places full of history, culture and legends, often and gladly summarized in the area's food and wine tradition.
The project, conceived by Leon Leban (from Dolina Soče d.o.o.), involved DMO Turismo Benečija (which is part of the Institute for Slovenian Culture) and the Soča Valley Tourist Board (Javni zavod za turizem Dolina Soče) as co-organizers from the earliest stages.
