The Institute for Slovene Culture is launching a history and literature circle. Through ten sessions, participants will explore the development of Slovene poetry — from the earliest Enlightenment-era secular collections to the most contemporary voices.
Led by Aljaž Škrlep, who will facilitate the meetings, participants will get to know the defining features of each literary period. Through reading and analyzing selected poems, they will also gain insight into how the Slovene language has evolved over time. Part of the course will focus on translating poems, as early engagement with another language opens up new ways of understanding and interpretation.
The circle is open to anyone interested in getting a closer look at the history of Slovene literature and culture. Sessions will be held in Slovene at the Slovene Cultural Center in San Pietro al Natisone / Špeter. Meetings will take place every fortnight, starting October 15.
