A mountain straddling the Soča Valley in Slovenia (municipality of Bovec/Plezzo) and the province of Udine in Italy (municipalities of Chiusaforte and Resia), it is the source of the River Resia.
The Canin massif, 2,587 metres high, is one of the best known mountains in Friuli, famous for skiing and the events on the Isonzo side. From the village of Stolvizza, its silhouette dominates the valley, together with Mount Sart, and is traversed by numerous low-altitude hiking trails, as well as more challenging equipped and caving trails at higher altitudes. The River Resia has its source here at 1280 metres.
