Location: Villanova delle Grotte/Zavarh 3, 33010 Lusevera/Bardo (UD)
The Old Cave of Villanova/Zavarh, also known as Tazajama! This is the real name of Doviza Cave!
Explored since at least the second half of the 1800s — and possibly even earlier — this cave still continues to surprise those who venture inside. Hardly a year goes by without the discovery of a new passage within this underground labyrinth!
Rich in history, the cave still preserves numerous inscriptions left by its earliest explorers, visible along the walls of its narrow tunnels. Among the many scholars who explored it, special mention goes to the famous geographer and geologist G.B. De Gasperi, who created the first survey of the cave.
Nearly 5 km (3 miles) of mapped passages spread across 5 gallery levels, 3 entrances, and 6 underground streams — these are just some of the impressive numbers behind Doviza Cave!
A cave waiting to be explored through an unforgettable experience! The tour follows the main gallery from the upper entrance before continuing through the lower entrance to the “Hall of Inscriptions.” A mixed and physically active route where you’ll truly get a taste of what it means to be a SPELEOLOGIST!
Costs: 25 € per person
