In Masarolis' square we find a fountain on top of which a lion has been caged. It is said that the townspeople had asked the municipal authority for a fountain and aqueduct to be built to avoid the unnecessary hassle of obtaining water from springs far from the town centre, but the request was not only not granted, it was opposed. The population did not lose heart and, facing many struggles, completed its construction in September 1895 and, as a symbol of the defeated municipal authority, caged the lion.
