The Doviza Cave is one of the earliest explored and the largest caves in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
One of the first caves explored in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Grotte Doviza is one of the longest in the region and for decades held the record of the longest cave in Italy, until a further, larger cave was discovered near Villanova in 1925.
It therefore had to surrender not only its supremacy, but also its name: until then known by the name of Grotta di Villanova, it reverted to its original name of Grotta di Doviza.
Since it is not a tourist cave, to visit it is necessary to contact a speleological group, such as the Gruppo Ricerche Ipogee Friuli and the Gruppo Speleologico Valli del Natisone, which occasionally organise accompanied cave tours.
