The Visitor Center of the Julian Prealps Natural Park in Resia is hosting the exhibition “SHEPHERDS – Livestock Farming and Pastoralism in the Upper Sava Valley,” a journey through historical photographs and the traditions of Alpine pastoral culture. The exhibition was created in collaboration with Triglav National Park and the transboundary UNESCO MAB Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve.
The opening will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Park Visitor Center in Prato/Ravanca. The exhibition will be open to the public until July 26, 2026, during the visitor center’s opening hours:
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 9 AM – 1 PM and 2 PM – 5 PM
The initiative is part of the United Nations International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026 (IYRP2026), highlighting the importance of pastoralism for biodiversity and cultural landscapes.
